At 8:05am on May 12th, 2008, Kevin Henry said…: Really, it depends on the focus of dentistry in the country in which they practice. In Japan, the hygienist and assistant are both called assistant and there seems to be a blurring of the lines in the roles there. When I hit the IDS show in Cologne, Germany, the trade show is full of dentists, but you rarely see any hygienists or assistants. It's definitely different than the U.S.!
