A-DEC EDUCATION CENTER OPENS

A-DEC HELPS DENTAL PROFESSIONALS DISCOVER THE FUTURE WITH NEW EDUCATION CENTER

Dental professionals around the world have a great new place for discovery. It’s called the A-dec Education Center, a state-of-the-art showroom and training facility located on the campus of A-dec corporate headquarters in Newberg, Oregon. The new 25,000 sq ft (2323sq m) center is home to A-dec’s professional sales and technical training programs and includes a large conference space, dining and business areas, as well as 20 rooms of the latest in quality A-dec dental equipment. The center also serves as the starting point for doctors, dealers, and other guests who visit the A-dec campus.
A-dec officially opened the new center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for employees and the local community on April 2, 2008. Recent A-dec retiree Ardith Burnett performed the ribbon cutting—a fitting appointment, since her mother (A-dec’s second employee) had cut the ribbon for the opening of A-dec’s main employee lounge 29 years earlier.
I was able to attend the new education center’s grand opening celebration on April 7. Authorized A-dec dealers, dental school deans, A-dec product partners, dental association leaders, and key members of the dental trade attended the event. The grand opening began with a short presentation and speeches by A-dec owners Ken and Joan Austin, President Scott Parrish, and Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Wayne Aho. Dinner followed, and many of the guests returned the next day for a factory tour of the A-dec campus. Nationally renowned motivational speaker Doug Young was also honored at the event for his years of contribution to A-dec sales training.
According to A-dec President Scott Parrish, the new center is a perfect symbol for the company’s core philosophy on education. “This center continues what Ken and Joan began in 1965 when they started A-dec,” he said. “Not only does it show off the quality and breadth of our equipment—it also demonstrates our commitment to education and the dental industry. And we plan on continuing this spirit of learning and engagement with our customers for many years to come.”
The biggest attraction to the A-dec Education Center is an impressive showroom that allows visiting doctors to imagine the possibilities, while also thinking about the patient experience. There’s plenty of variety with 16 domestic and 2 international treatment rooms—all featuring a selection of A-dec’s wide range of patient chairs, stools, delivery systems, dental furniture, lights, monitor options, handpieces, and sterilization solutions. From A-dec’s high-end A-dec 500® systems and Preference® dental furniture to the precision line of A-dec/W&H handpieces, visitors can see, touch, and test out nearly all of the A-dec equipment available today. I had a great time dicovering which equipment fit me the best. I found mine.
With a full range of product options, several of the rooms provide ideal set-ups for demonstrations and/or teaching larger groups. Part of that variety includes Preference ICC® and the Lisa® sterilizer to show how doctors can use A-dec’s line of sterilization solutions to demonstrate safety and cleanliness to patients. There’s also a full array of upholstery, laminate, and solid surface colors displayed in one area to help customers choose styling. And to support A-dec’s strong presence in institutional sales, a dedicated room allows dental school and government customers to view and test the latest A-dec equipment.
In addition to the showroom, the new education center includes features designed to take A-dec’s world-renowned training programs to the next level. Supporting the professional sales training classes and other seminars is a large conference room that seats 200 guests and features the latest in sound, lighting, and projection equipment. For technical training, two spacious labs with fully-functioning workstations allow service technicians a more interactive, hands-on approach to troubleshooting old and new A-dec equipment. Other highlights include WiFi through¬out the building, a comfortable dining area that seats 70 people, and a business center with dedicated phones, computers, and printers.
