I have become a huge fan of the Google alert. If you don't know what that is, you can log on to Google and have a search for whatever term you fancy delivered to your email inbox every day. Mine is set for "dental assistant" and I alwayus find great stuff from newspapers around the country.
This morning, I had a story from the newspaper in New Braunfels, Texas. Here's a portion of the article...
Oral cancer screenings were a new feature this year.
Dr. Lara Perry of Mission Hill Dental, said the screening takes about two minutes and they check the head and neck for any swelling and check the inside of the mouth for any sores or unusual lesions.
“We’ve been busy,” said Dental Assistant Carol Holmes. “We’ve had a long line all day.”
Oral cancer screenings are being incorporated into health fairs ... so why aren't most dental offices getting on board in their own practice? With such power and such technology in the hands of the dental team, it's time we take the responsibility seriously and start truly making a life-changing impact on patients.
