Who has two thumbs and detests fake leaders? This guy.

As I sat at the Tulsa airport and waited to board my flight to Dallas/Fort Worth, I looked up as the crew began to board the plane and get it ready for takeoff. I smiled when I saw the captain pulling his bag on the plane with a bumper sticker that read, "I have no idea where I'm going."

Of course, it was in jest. He knew exactly where he was going (thank goodness) and he had every tool he needed to make sure the 40-minute flight was smooth and quick (again, thank goodness). I…

Are you leaving money on the table? Submit your full fee to dental insurance

We all know that we’re taking a huge hit thanks to dental insurance, but are we also leaving money on the table that’s our own fault? Depending upon your set up for submitting claims to dental insurance, you could be losing…

Have you integrated your faith into your work?

I recently attended the University of Dayton's Faith at Work breakfast event - sponsored by the Center for the Integration of Faith and Work in the School of Business. Our speaker shared his 'pilgrimage' with faith and work. Influenced by his Catholic father who assembled headlights for Chrysler, he went on to teach in a Catholic school and later created a company that provided job training for displaced workers…

What is your opinion of Dr. Ellie's recommended home care regimen?

My boss passed this article from the New Yorker onto me several months ago. At first I was appalled that Dr.Phillips so publicly "bashed" flossing. On my second and third thoughts and then many more I understood that her message was not "don't floss, or it doesn't work" but more about how we as a profession communicate to our clients that if they don't floss they are bad, and that if they do all their dental problems will be solved -both statements are incorrect. I think that Dr. Philips… Continue

How the Dentrix appointment history paints an accurate picture

Here is an actual email I received a few weeks ago from a long term patient:

My husband had an appt on 2/7. He's been away on business since 1/4 and when we realized that he would not be back until after 2/7, I called and rescheduled his appt. I called on Jan 25. I had joined him on his trip the day before. It was rescheduled for…

Dental politics: Do you know the scoop?

Every year our state dental association hosts a “Day at the Statehouse” where dentists are invited to spend a day learning the top legislative issues in dentistry – and then to share these topics with their state senator and representative. The dental association staff provides written materials to the dentists that clearly explain the 2-3 hot topics for that year. These talking points guide the individual meeting between the dentist and his/her legislators. When a dentist registers for this…

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch gets gold grill

Well, there's 4 minutes and 52 seconds of my life I will never get back. I'm embarrassed to admit I just watched a video on about Marshawn Lynch, running back for the Seattle Seahawks, shopping for a new grill.

I'm all for helping the economy by spending your hard-earned dollars, but as the article points…
