If I had a dime for every time I was asked the following three questions, I’d be comfortably wealthy.
“Why is it that the dentist down the street is doing well operating his/her practice and I’m struggling to make mine a success? We have the same size practices and are operating them the same way!” or
“I have a revolving door when it comes to my staff. How do I hire the right people to work with me?” or
“My business partner and I agreed to part ways. Why is it that a…Continue

Dentists Waste a Ton of Money on AdWords!
Google AdWords is Google’s Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising program and as such has generated quite a buzz with dentists who are looking to increase their online presence. And while using AdWords can be a terrific adjunct to a dental website’s overall Internet marketing strategy, I see dentists wasting money on AdWords clicks every single day!
What is the Problem with…Continue

Need your opinions. In today's economy, do dentists look at patient revenue in terms of “Annual Residual Value”, or “Lifetime Value”? In addition, is it per case average or the average dollars each patient spends on an annual basis?

Are you planning to attend the Chicago MidWinter meeting next week? If so, you're probably gathering extra business cards, printing course materials and checking the weather (no blizzard in the forecast so far). To make the most of your trip, here are a few recommendations for visiting the Dentrix booth:
Before you leave:
1. Check the version of Dentrix you're running
2. Think about your day-to-day work in Dentrix - is there anything you're struggling with? Perhaps you…Continue

One of the questions that dentists, physicians, and other healthcare provides often ask is, “What pages do I need to have on my website.” The question is a very important one so let’s take a look at the answer.
At it’s core, a website for a healthcare provider most likely is split between two primary purposes — to provide information to existing patients, and to attract new patients. Fortunately a…Continue

It’s that time of year – in the last 10 days I’ve received 2 different yellow pages directories found lying on my doorstep. Yellow pages advertising used to be the primary focus of my marketing budget. About 5 years ago, our practice ran a full page ad in at least 3 different books and a smaller size ad in 2 additional books. Oh, how times have changed!
If you are trying to decide whether to keep or eliminate yellow pages from your marketing budget, here are some…Continue

Does anyone actually care about Kim Kardashian? Probably not. However, she's still in the "news," and wants to keep her smile "camera ready." That makes me laugh. But hey, I read an article about her because it involved her dentist, and I assume other dental professionals will as well. If Kardashian's publicity will help her dentist's business, then good for him.
I'm wondering if dentists are beginning to ask their celebrity patients to tweet about them, since I'm seeing this…Continue

I took a call just yesterday from a patient upset at the $75 fee to replace her son's ortho retainer. Her son recently got his braces off, came in for the appointment to make the retainer, but didn't return for 2 months to get the retainer. Not surprisingly, the retainer didn't fit and the orthodontist charged her $75 to make a new one. She felt we didn't inform her of how quickly…Continue
