Dental Marketing with Mailing Lists

after-close Dental offices all over the country, if not the world, are feeling the crunch of the current economic climate. The truth is that though there are dental emergencies, these typically aren’t what pay the bills.  Dentistry is widely underinsured and in a country like the US that already struggles with millions of uninsured citizens, dental work is often out of reach. Even for those who have dental insurance when things get hard at home practices like bi-yearly cleanings and…

Dentists who care about neglected children

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry supports programs that are not just a punch in the dark. The academy’s Healthy Smiles Healthy Children Foundation selects endeavors that encourage complete coverage of the dental needs of underserved children.

No temporary Band-Aids here. No one-time dispensing of sealants, toothbrushes, and/or packages of sugar-free sweets.

For example, Oregon’s Tooth Taxi Mobile Dental Clinic, which received $20,000 from the AAPD in 2010,…

I’m early for UOR

At this writing, we’re just two weeks removed from the blizzard that froze the heavy traffic on busy Lakeshore Drive right in its tracks. Remember seeing those shocking photos on your favorite news Web site? Chicago, the city that never flinches in the winter, flinched.

In fact, it’s snowing on the final day of the Chicago Midwinter Meeting. But the city is back to its bustling self, and I have arrived very early for the…

Charging For Missed Appointments in Your Dental Business

Back in March, a news story in Calgary, Canada, had the dental community, as well as the general public, up in arms over cancellation policies. According to CBC News Calgary, “Roland Ikporo was billed $400 by Expressions Dental, a clinic in northwest Calgary, for canceling an appointment for his son an hour after he had booked it.”

dental sign It seems that Ikporo’s son got a toothache on a Saturday afternoon, when his regular dental office was closed. He was able to get an…

Meeting the Xylitol next door

Xylitol is a very pretty good girl. She’s fun to be around. She has a good heart. Nothing bad ever seems to happen when you’re with Xylitol.

Your mother would be very proud if you asked Xylitol out for a date.

May the sparks fly!

Some people think Xylitol should be the president of the United States. Expectant mothers wish Xylitol would pat their bellies, blessing the child within. But it’s not just the hormones of pregnant women who are smitten…

Oil Pulling

Ok, let's hear it. Your experience, thoughts and observations of oil pulling therapy.

I have patients no longer brushing and relying 100% on this method of health care. Scares me a bit, but interested in others opinions.

Ke$ha brushes with Jack Daniels

Oh good grief. And these people are our children's role models. In an interview with Vanity Fair, singer Ke$ha claims she brushes with Jack Daniels, because "it's an anti bacterial and it smells a whole lot better than morning breath."

Thank goodness the article begins by advising her to visit a dentist, pronto.

Though she's got a wild child image to maintain, let's hope this doesn't start a new trend. If given the choice between morning breath and Jack Daniels, I'm thinking…
