This department proves that every day, Vicki. We're such a happy bunch. (Yes, I'm sure Kevin is unwell somewhere.)

Wow. Well said, Dr. Schuster. Unfortunately much of this is right on target. As a patient, I've accepted the fact that I'm just a warm body to most doctors I must see. Of course there are exceptions, but they always take me by surprise. I can only i…

Great list. I especially like Count your blessings. Sometimes it's easy to get so wrapped up in every day events that we forget how blessed we are. So remember to take time each day to be thankful for our loved ones and our friends and the good thin…

Great news! GlaxoSmithKline said last Thursday it will remove zinc from its denture cream. The company responded to reports that excessive use of the cream over many years can cause neurological damage and blood problems in consumers. I commend Glax…

This is a very comfortable and roomy looking office that was refurbished beautifully. The T-shape started out as a challenge and turned out to work to their benefit. Nice job Dr. Altieri.

Nick at Nite show Glenn Martin, DDS, fades

If the reviews about the Nick at Nite show, Glenn Martin, DDS, are true, it won't be around long. My son won't be tuning in and thankfully hasn't been asking to, because according to the reviews, it isn't suitable for anyone under 14. It doesn't sound like Glenn Martin, DDS, will promote much negative publicity about dentists, because frankly, no one seems to be watching. Every review I found when I googled it was negative. Here's a… Continue

Nick at Nite "Glenn Martin, DDS" closer to its debut

I blogged about a new Nick at Nite show back in May when I heard about it. My feelings haven't changed. Early on it looks like Glenn Martin, DDS, is not going to portray positive images of dentists for children to be watching. The Soundentistry Web site is concerned about the show. The page concl… Continue

How do you feel about fluoride?

This controversy surprises me. I was raised like the author of this article.
Though I didn't eat fluoride tablets or swallow toothpaste, I grew up drinking fluoridated water and brushing with fluoridated toothpaste, like thousands of other people. I have always credited this with my lack of cavities in middle age. I've had only one cavity. My father died at age 93 with all of his teeth and few fillings. So the use of bottled water has gotte… Continue

Good explanation on oral/systemic link

The oral/systemic link is something more people are paying attention to, which is a very good thing for the health of the world. I read with interest The NobleDentist Blog, enjoying a fresh take on a subject that more people need to pay attention to. I particularly liked this quote: "There’s a direct connection between your teeth and gums and your heart, lungs, immune system, and cardiovascular system. Bacteria that build up in your mouth don’t stay there. They travel throughout the body like un… Continue

The importance of oral health care prevention

This is an obvious headline, but cannot be stressed enough. That's why there are still a multitude of articles and web sites that stress the health and cost benefits of simple prevention vs. treatment, including oral health prevention. Deamonte Driver, the 12 year old who died of a tooth abscess, is mentioned in this article as a prime example of no access to oral health care and how far it c… Continue

Don't fight the feeling...before you know if, your little one will be on face book too! It's the wave of technology and with us having little ones, we need to stay on it! Just do what you can when you check your page. I don't overwhelm myself with it, but I just kind of spot check when time allows. I probably actually overlooked actually sending you an invite?! :O did I?

Hello Meg,
Yes, just this past Saturday, I participated along with many of the students from our Dental Hygiene Program, at the Give Kids a Smile day here in out local community dental clinic. It was a great success and very rewarding for all that participated. I don't know the exact numbers of how many children were treated, but it seemed that it was the largest participation since we began this endeavor 7 years ago. There is a tremendous need for this type of event.

I too am a cat addict. Although presently I am cat-less, there will definitely be a day again, when I have several. (If life ever slows down).

thanks for the communication.

Megan, How do I go about setting up on the hygiene site for RDH's?
Here is what I made last night:
Stuffed Bell Peppers with Artichoke Alfredo Sauce
Noel Kelsch

Ingredients:
Eight ounces Firm Teriaka tofu cut in bite size pieces (or if you eat flesh eight ounces roasted chicken cut in cubes)
Four Red Bell Peppers
One cup of bite size chopped fresh vegetables in season (eggplant, artichoke, tomatoes, zuccinni, etc.)
One fourth medium Onion chopped
One fourth teaspoon pepper
One minced garlic cloves
Two tablespoons fresh basil minced
One fourth teaspoon chopped fresh Italian parsley

Sauce:
One Tablespoon butter
Two cloves garlic crushed
One tablespoon garlic salt
One cup heavy whipping cream
One half cup real grated parmesan cheese (NOT THE KIND IN THE GREEN CAN)
One 6 oz bottle artichoke hearts chopped and drained

Directions:
Slice top off bell pepper, core. Over medium heat saute onion, garlic, tofu and veggies in butter until braised but firm. Stuff bell peppers with tofu mixture. Broil bell pepper in open pan until lightly browned.
To create sauce:
In large skillet melt butter over medium heat, and add crushed garlic. Once the sauté mixture has caramelized pour the heavy whipping cream into the pan. Stir until simmers. Slowly add the parmesan cheese to the cream, allow to simmer for 5-7 minuets stirring frequently. Add garlic salt, basal, artichokes and parsley. Remove from heat, pour over broiled bell peppers
