One advantage is that it does does accept tips from other manufacturers; it is also reasonably priced.

For some strange reason, you can usually trust a patient to never lie when you ask if they floss or use some other interproximal cleaning tool. Approximately seventy percent don't and they are honest about it. But, at least it opens up a way to try…

Even bad guys used to be little baby bad guys. In all seriousness, Kevin is right. As hygienists, sometimes it is hard when one has a little baby bad guy in the chair..but if we stick to those two rules, we will at least feel better about the care a…

There is a learning curve if you have been using a magnetostrictive ultrasonic unit so far. I am starting with a practice where the doctor insists that the hygienists only use Piezo's..so I don't have a CHOICE. I LOVE MY CAVITRON BUT..this is a beau…

Perio athogens in man's best buddies

I have a champion cairn terrier that got me into very meticulous care of his teeth early on. I have carried on this tradition to all my animals. The benefits are animals who have never needed to have their teeth cleaned, have never been ill, obviously no periodontal issues which could be very serious in a small body. My oldest cat is fifteen and she has all her teeth, even the mandibular incisors. Another great benefit is my ability to use that fact when a parent tells me that theContinue

Floaters

Anybody out there have an opinion on the unlicensed horse dentists in Texas who are literally overdoing equilibration on horses teeth to the point of damage and pain. Enamel doesn't grow back as we know and a bit rubbing on sensitive teeth is uncomfortable and can ruin even a excellent horse.

Thanks, Mary Jane. Concerning Listerine penetrating biofilm, that's good, but is the claim that it can *replace* flossing valid? How is it possible to reach anerobes down in a 6 mm pocket by rinsing?

I am happy to see it your unemployment issue resolved, but unhappy what you had to go through to receive it. As far as your comment that others may have had it worse then you for what happened, that does not diminish the experience for you. Regardless of how it may have gone down, this was your experience, your hurt, your betrayal that happened to you. And that makes it very significant and important. We are all unique and different and we all have our personal responses to crisis. I am glad to hear that you are moving forward, but it does take time for wounds like this to heal. Take one emotion at a time, face it, and each time you do, say to yourself "That I am more powerful then this wounded emotion. " Then visually see yourself sending it on its way, goodbye!
Just always take one step forward. Often when life crisis hits us suddenly, we tend to stuff it deep within and not truly deal with it. It does come back to haunt you in one way or another. If you need some help with this, just e-mail me and I will help you through it.

My apologies for taking so long to respond to you Mary Jane! Sounds like it was a good idea you no longer work for your past employers. How are things going for you right now?

Hey Jane,

I've been given the right to reapply for my dental license; however, the revocation is for a minimum of 36 months. After that time, I can reapply. It's up to the Virginia Board of Dentistry as to whether or not I'll be allowed to practice again. I love my patients and the profession. I pray that I may be able to practice again.

Thanks for your comment, Jane. Virginia is quite beautiful! As to your suggestion, I would not be allowed to practice dental hygiene in Virginia as my license to practice dentistry has been revoked and I have a felony conviction that would prevent the possibility of being given a license to practice hygiene. I do appreciate your reaching out in an effort to help

Mary Jane,
I rarely log in to this site these days, but I did just this evening, and noticed your post/accusation of Dec 2009. I am not alone in my view of flouride treatments delivered the old fashioned way in gel form in trays. Does it matter what company I keep in this view? No. Does it matter what you think of my view or my background/education? Even less. That said, your apology is accepted. I wish you well.

At the moment it sounds like you are in an intense state of anger, frustration and full blown grief. Grief is not for our loved ones only, but for life changing events we were not prepared for. All that you knew, your daily routines, friends and especially your patients you will miss profoundly. You must feel that you are in a limbo, where do I go, who am I now? I have posted on my blog my article I posted on my website for you to look at. You will see the bullies in the world are everywhere.
As a life coach, my focus is on you. For now, vent the anger. But a time will come, and it is different for everyone, when it is time to move on. You are not ready yet. The anger and grief you are feeling and sending out is energy draining for you. What is even frustrating here, is that this dentist could care less how you feel from what you have said. Is he worth the energy draining and blaming? No because he does not care. Save your energy to grieve over what is important now, the loss of your life as you knew it without this dentist in the picture. He is nothing. But you are something in this and grieve over your patients, your life change.
Panic and fear are always a powerful force when losing a job. It clouds our reasoning and ability to make decisions. It did for me, I was fired from two dental jobs. But once I made a decision to be open to what could be, the world and its opportunities did also. I am a poster child of new beginnings, each one began with agony for whatever happened, terminations, illness whatever, it was a journey that brought me to my purpose. One being helping people deal with life and career issues in the dental field.
Cry Mary Jane, beat the pillows, eat chocolate and watch sappy movies, whatever you need to do for now. Then, when you feel ready, send me a comment and we will move on to the next step. God bless.
